THE WORKS AT EBBW VALELocation: Ebbw Vale, UK | Client: Blaenau Gwent Council / The Works
The Works is a £350 million project, so the ambitions are high. Once completed, the development aims to bring around 720 new homes to Blaenau Gwent and generate 2000 new jobs. Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council want to ensure the proposed masterplan maximises social, economic and environmental benefits for local people. Saturn provided proposals for three of the basements on the site known as Annealer and Nos. 3 & 4 ETL.
These basements form part of the Master Plan for the The Works at Ebbw Vale that proposes a mix of uses including the Learning Campus, Local General Hospital, Leisure Centre and Sports Pitches, a Theatre, high quality offices and around 500 homes. Mixed-use areas will be predominantly residential with local amenities. The Learning Campus and the Hospital are catalysts for regeneration of the Steelworks site and will be beacons for the regeneration of Blaenau Gwent as a whole.
The Works is a vibrant and distinctive development in the heart of Blaenau Gwent, South Wales, the regeneration project to redevelop the former Ebbw Vale steelworks site connecting locals and visitors to the greener things in life. Saturn have been employed to create three distinctive new leisure zones within the complex.
